Clifford-Jacobs has extensive experience producing parts. Steel forging is an extremely effective method for producing a wide variety of challenging 3-D shapes–from the smallest part to those weighing many tons. Through our impression forging process, we are able to process most commercially available steels, including carbon and alloy steels; tool steels; stainless, aluminum alloys; and titanium alloys.

Clifford-Jacobs takes pride in the speed and accuracy with which we reply to requests for quotes. In addition, we offer short to medium runs, from twenty-five to 15,000 pieces annually, and we have a seasoned, expert staff with a CNC-equipped die shop on-site.

To expedite answers to your questions, please have the following information at hand:

  • Material grade
  • EAU and Delivery quantity
  • Date requested
  • A good-quality fully dimensioned print

If required, please include any specifications you may have for machining, heat treating, and testing. Clifford-Jacobs Forging can produce standard or custom forgings within the following parameters:

  • From 5 pounds to 800 pounds
  • Up to 30 inches in diameter
  • Up to 50 inches in length
  • Up to 18 inches in spindle height
  • Annual quantity of 25 to 15,000 pieces

Forging is the application of thermal and mechanical energy to steel bars, billets, and ingots to cause the material to change shape while in the solid-state. This is a different process than casting, by which
metal is melted and poured into a mold in the liquid or molten state. Forging offers uniformity of composition and structure. Steel forgings have minimum variation in machinability and mechanical properties. Forging strengthens the resulting steel product, particularly in terms of impact toughness.
